Stay somewhere eggstra special this Easter
Easter is a very special time at the Dog and Doublet, our traditional inn located in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside. All around us, the signs of spring are emerging. Daffodils bloom and the hanging baskets are filled and raised – rather like our pints! We love to hear the soft sound of wood on leather, as the cricket season starts just across the road from us.
Drink in the view
Lambs are abounding at the Sandon Estate and the adjoining farmland that surrounds the inn. The heavier brews and winter warmers have been cast aside, as citrusy light ales and Aperol Spritz become the drinks of choice, particularly for thirsty explorers, after a springtime walk.
The kitchen at our country gastro pub is preparing flavoursome sharing boards and lighter bites to be enjoyed in the warmth of our glassed archway or sat outside on a sunny day. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays our ever-popular Classic Afternoon Teas are being enjoy in the restaurant and we’ve already seen a few brave souls in the beer garden, tucking into our savoury Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea, with the real ales going down well. Psst... afternoon teas are available 2.30-4.30pm and they’re not just for boys!

We’re just 20 minutes’ drive away from the only place you can walk with free-roaming monkeys at Trentham Monkey Forest. See if you can spot a monkey mum to be and follow the Easter Trail all the way to the primate play area.
